Jonathan started in construction at an early age, beginning as a laborer on the USX Tower in downtown Pittsburgh. Working his way up through the trades provided a unique, all-encompassing, hands-on perspective that ultimately prepared him to manage multiple, custom design+build projects. He quickly learned that problems represent new opportunities, and he embraces that philosophy throughout the design+build process.
Jonathan studied construction at California University of Pennsylvania where he gained hands-on experience in problem-solving, structural design and components, and drafting/design. After college, Jonathan was lured by Charleston’s siren call of warm weather and sandy beaches, where he got his start managing concrete, framing, siding, and interior trim crews. A construction veteran with more than 23 years of experience, Jonathan joined Dolphin Architects + Builders in 2016. He is active in his church and enjoys spending time with his three boys. As VP of Construction focusing on Pre-Construction, Jonathan collaborates with Dolphin’s Design Team from the start to establish workable budgets, insure the practical buildability of designs in the field, and produce each project’s unique team of needed subcontractors and suppliers. When not working, Jonathan can be found on his boat researching the best fishing spots in our Lowcountry waters.
He has personally built and overseen countless projects throughout the greater Charleston market. His in-depth knowledge of construction from start-to-finish, across multiple trades, makes him an integral part of Dolphin’s team, as he helps guide the design+build process with each client’s budget and project goals in mind. He most enjoys working with and maintaining quality relationships with our trade partners, a crucial component of Dolphin’s recipe for success.
