Clay Shehan joined the Dolphin Architecture team in 2025 as an Architectural Associate. A graduate of Clemson University’s Master of Architecture program, Clay is completing his remaining requirements and preparing for licensure.
A native of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Clay grew up in the construction business, developing an early appreciation for both design and building. After graduating from the College of Charleston with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and studying abroad in Italy, he pursued a varied career that included commercial construction in New Zealand and extensive travel.
Clay later returned to South Carolina to pursue his Master of Architecture at Clemson University, studying at both the main campus and the Charleston Design Center. During his time in Charleston, he participated in the Community Build program, gaining valuable experience with the professional processes involved in moving projects from design, through permitting, and into construction. The program also provided opportunities to build features for the community and complete projects for local nonprofits.
With a passion for both design and building, Clay feels privileged to help create meaningful spaces and be part of the process of designing and building your home.
